The Hatching Ideas Lab is excited to announce that we have two Summer Student positions available!


(1) Full-Time Summer Student RA Position (1 position available):

The student research assistant will be involved in a project supporting a community-based healthcare organization (Ottawa Inner City Health) to inform the develop of a stimulant safe supply program. The project will consist of a scoping review of stimulant safe supply literature, and, time permitting, assisting with the design of a pilot project to support a future grant application.

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):

  • Must have been enrolled as an undergraduate student in the 2021/2022 academic year and returning to school in 2022/2023.

  • Experience with literature reviews an asset

  • Background in Health Sciences, Psychology or Medicine.

  • Strong problem solving

  • Ability to work independently when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a medical student, experience in mental health and/or substance use programs.

  • Experience with clinical research an asset

  • Experience with software such as Covidence an asset

(2) Part-Time Summer Student Position (1 position available):

The student will be involved in a project conducting a series of interviews developing narratives of homeless individuals in Ottawa and their day-to-day experience of living with trauma. Interviews will occur in the community

Basic Requirements (Education/Experience):

  • 3rd/4th year undergraduate or master’s level student in Journalism/Communications.

  • Strong problem solving.

  • Ability to work independently when required.

  • Must be comfortable working with sensitive material.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in mental health and working with vulnerable populations an asset;

  • Previous demonstrated experience working with sensitive topics an asset.
