Our Mission.
Mental disorders are common, with major impacts on well-being and the health care system alike. The evidence for what treatments work is often not available and, even when it is, this often does not reach those who are the most vulnerable. We believe everyone should have equal access to effective care. With a commitment to social justice at its core, the Hatching Ideas Lab is dedicated to applying science to find out what works for underserved populations in our community. Having been impacted in some way in their own lives, many of our lab members have a personal stake in the work we do in the area of mental health. This passion helps drive what we do.
We strive to create an inclusive environment, empowering our team, patient partners, and collaborators to reach our common goal of reducing the burden of mental health disorders.
What we do:
Empower individuals involved in our research by promoting an open dialogue where everyone has a respected and equal voice
Investigate treatment approaches for mental health disorders in underserved populations, primarily through clinical trials
Develop innovative ways to deliver mental health care, through close partnership with community organizations
Break down the stigma associated with mental health disorders and advocate for equal access to freely available, effective, evidence-based mental health care
Create a culture of learning and success with an environment that fosters mentorship and unique training opportunities
