We are pleased to announce that our lab has received funding to conduct cohort study in Eastern Ontario of people who have tested positive and negative for COVID-19.

This will allow us to estimate of how much mental health burden is due to COVID-19 infection compared to that due to the socioeconomic changes associated with the pandemic.

The goals of this study are to answer the following questions:

  • Does being infected with COVID-19 result in an increase in mental disorders compared to those who tested negative?

  • Are there demographic, social and clinical predictors of these mental health outcomes?

  • What are the mental health outcomes for health care workers, who have tested positive or negative, at one year?

We are very thankful to our generous funders: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Ontario Ministry of Health. To learn more about this study, click here.
